 SRF-C20 is installed and operated between BTS and the terminal for expanding the wireless network coverage. It amplifies the signal received by BTS or the terminal and retransmits it at a higher level and/or higher power without degradation. This system can extend the service coverage and eliminate shadow area in isolated regions to improve the voice and data quality.
SRF-C20 consists of a Donor and a Remote. The Donor and Remote come with brackets and are water/dust-proof to be installed outdoors on electric poles or communication towers. Compared to general optical repeaters, it can reduce ranges of optical cables and currently supports up to 20FAs.
SRF-C20 stands for “Slim-type Analog Repeater and Cellular 20 Watts for IS 95-AB and 1X & 1xEVDO.” It is the future-oriented slim-type wireless optical repeater which SKT will pursue in the future. This repeater was initially developed with cost-effective and slim structure on mind. It is easy to upgrade from 20 Watts to 60 Watts and stresses compatibility between system manufacturers for easy installation and operation.
30Watt PAU is basically embedded in the system. It has a dual structure to be able to separate PAU from other modules in the repeater. Therefore, it can maximize heat efficiency compared to other devices in the same size, without the heat from PAU affecting other modules or units. This makes the device small and improves MTFBF of other units for more stable onsite operation.

The cost is reduced by module integration. That is, The Forward Drive AMP of the remote is integrated with PAU, the remote CPU with PAU’s Controller, and the Reverse Drive AMP with LNA to simplify the structure and save cost.
In operation or onsite maintenance/repair, the pin-maps of PAU and optic module, are identically structured to improve module compatibility. The protocol and link budget between donor and remote are standardized for interworking with other manufacturers’ equipment.
